What Blue Cheese Digital Did…

Client Overview

Black Country Multicultural Day (BCMD) is an annual celebration showcasing the incredible cultural diversity that has flourished across the Black Country in recent years. The event promotes understanding, inclusion, and pride within local communities through music, food, art, and shared experiences.
Following the success of the past five years in Dudley Town Centre and Halesowen, BCMD continues to grow in both scale and impact. Their 2026 event will be taking place on 11th July 2026 at Somers Square, Halesowen; promises to be their biggest yet, with new surprises and community partnerships already in motion.

The Challenge

After collaborating with BCMD for the past two years on event growth both online and offline, Blue Cheese Digital was tasked with producing a promotional video for the upcoming 2026 event.

The video will debut during the Halesowen Christmas Lights Switch-On in November 2025. An opportunity to generate excitement and awareness ahead of the summer celebration next year, with a view to gain more sponsorship.

The main challenges were to:

  • Capture the vibrant multicultural energy of the event

  • Showcase highlights from the 2025 celebration across Somers Square and the Cornbow

  • Reflect the diversity and unity of the Black Country community

  • Incorporate local cultural icons — from its industrial heritage to its unmistakable “orange chips”

  • Create a visually dynamic promotional piece that resonates with all audiences

Our Approach

To create a video that authentically represented the spirit of BCMD, our approach focused on storytelling through community and culture.

We combined archival footage and photos from the 2025 event with fresh graphic elements, transitions, and upbeat music to capture the joy and energy of the day.

Key stages in our creative process included:

  • Discovery & Concept Development: Understanding BCMD’s goals for the 2026 event and identifying visual themes that celebrate diversity.

  • Content Curation: Selecting photos and clips of performers, artists, and community groups from the 2025 event to showcase the variety of cultures represented.

  • Design & Editing: Blending live footage with animated text and transitions to create rhythm and flow.

  • Cultural Context: Integrating nods to the Black Country’s unique identity, from industrial heritage imagery to local foods and connecting tradition with celebration.

  • Soundtrack Selection: Choosing music that captures both energy and inclusivity, appealing to a broad audience.

The Solution

The final promotional video for Black Country Multicultural Day 2026 is a vibrant, engaging showcase of community spirit.

  • Event Highlights: Dynamic visuals featuring artists, performers, and attendees from the 2025 event.

  • Local Pride: Subtle visual cues referencing iconic Black Country elements, “orange chips,” local landmarks, and the region’s industrial roots.

  • Multicultural Focus: Representation of the wide range of cultures, traditions, and talents that make BCMD unique.

  • Optimised for Events & Social Media: Delivered in multiple formats for display during the Halesowen Christmas Lights Switch-On and across digital channels.

The Result

The BCMD 2026 promotional video successfully captures the essence of what makes the event so special. Diversity, unity, and pride in the Black Country.

Its premiere at the Halesowen Christmas Lights event is set to reach thousands of attendees, helping raise awareness and excitement for the summer festival.

Our ongoing partnership with Black Country Multicultural Day continues into 2026, supporting their mission to celebrate community, promote understanding, and share the vibrancy of the region with a wider audience.
