What Blue Cheese Digital Did…

‘Diwali in Luton’ first took place in 2018, and since then has been attended by 10,000 people and gone on to receive an award for ‘Best Mela’ in 2021. The event has been supported by many prestigious sponsors, who without them, this wonderful event wouldn’t exist. Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights, is the most popular of all South Asian Celebrations and is celebrated by Jains and Sikhs, as well as Hindus.

The award-winning Diwali in Luton is back again on Fri 27th – Sat 28th October 2023, St Georges Square, Luton. The event will showcase live performances from local and top Indian/Bhangra artists and performers. There will also be delicious food and many amazing stalls and workshops.

Diwali in Luton approached Blue Cheese Digital to re-develop their old website; based on SquareSpace. The old design hadn’t evolved since it was developed back in 2018. The event management team described it as feeling “flat” and “not visually appealing”. Their goal was to create a website with an interactive and visual appeal to their visitors; whilst also signposting key information.

Blue Cheese Digital set about creating a WordPress website with a responsive design; allowing all visitors to the event to explore the website on any device. Blue Cheese Digital worked with Diwali in Luton to create a visually inspiring and interactive design, through the use of a strong homepage banner, and visuals throughout the website. Particular emphasis was placed on showcasing their photos from previous years, whilst also doing a general scrape of existing content on the previous website, therefore reducing time of delivery and cost.

The client are really pleased with the outcome of the website and we’re looking forward to people seeing it over the coming months when people visit the event in October.
