Who are Middlesbrough Mela?

Middlesbrough Mela (fondly known as Boro Mela) is one of the biggest, most spectacular multi-cultural festivals in the North-East and offers a fabulous mix of music, food, fashion and fun over two days!

Set in the beautiful surroundings of Albert Park in the heart of Middlesbrough you can expect world class music, local talent, the market bazaar and a range of exciting family activities for all the family. Middlesbrough Mela is the largest and oldest established event of its kind and attracts audiences of 50,000 over two days, reflecting the aspirations and needs of the communities within Middlesbrough, the Tees Valley and beyond.

In August 2025 Middlesbrough Mela will be celebrating their 35th annual event and will be celebrating with a global headline act Jay Sean.

What was the project?

The organisers are Middlesbrough Mela approached Blue Cheese Digital to design event accreditations for their upcoming 2025 event in August. There were multiple accreditations to be created for both VIP access and AAA (Access all areas). We have previously worked on event accreditations for the Black Country Multicultural Day. This gave us an idea of layout.

Firstly, we took a look at the Middlesbrough Mela website & social media to look at their current branding for this years event; as they regularly changed each year to keep it fresh and new.

With this in our mind we utilised the current Middlesbrough Mela branding with their current gradient (Blue, pink & orange). This was very impactful and was a great basis on the background. We then looked at bringing the ‘Asian’ feel to the design utilising a Mandala. Creating a greater connection to the target audience who are attending the event.

With only a week or so to the event; we can’t wait for Middlesbrough Mela to celebrate their 35th Birthday with some amazing acts including: Jay Sean, Sukshinda Shinda, Shin DCS & many more amazing local talent.
