Who are Milton Keynes Mela Festival?
Milton Keynes Mela Festival is an exciting and unique cultural showcase, providing an outlet for the south Asian, and other culturally diverse communities in Milton Keynes. The mission of MK Mela was to bring people together to celebrate music, culture and artist diversity; enhancing understanding between communities.
It was the first Mela to happen in the Milton Keynes area. The event showcased top entertainment, from the likes of Metz n Trix, Bobby Panesar, Raafay & Rishi Rich. The festival also included dance performances, local businesses stalls, arts, crafts and fashion, a funfair, and a ‘Kid-zone’ full of fun activities.
What was the project?
Blue Cheese Digital were asked to develop and execute a x6 week promotional campaign for the Milton Keynes Mela Festival, held in August at Campbell Park, Milton Keynes. The client wanted to promote the event in the local community, and wider areas of Buckinghamshire, Bedford and Northamptonshire. The event showcased live music acts, arts and crafts workshops, a funfair and much more!
BCD chose to promote the campaign on 2 social media channels; Facebook & Instagram. The clients audience was identified as being most present here, and this also allowed us to carry out targeted sharing in various groups across Facebook for Milton Keynes and afar; increasing awareness and engagement for the event. Towards the end of the campaign the event also gained some local awareness and was interviewed on BBC 3 counties radio on the morning show, with Andy Collins. The Results
The short campaign reached over 40,000+ users across both social networks, with over 80% of reach gained organically.
The event was very sucessful for a first year event, with great performances from the likes of Metz n Trix, Bobby Panesar, Raafay, Veronica & Rishi Rich. Milton Keynes Mela Festival are now looking to expand their event in 2025 and grow it across 2 days.
