Have you ever noticed on Google when you’re searching for a brand or a service and they have a panel next to their brand? Google Knowledge Panels are the results of Google’s Knowledge Graph. Effectively, it’s lots of data that is linked with that business. In our blog we’ll tell you how you can get some of your information stored here.
First thing, If you want to display locally for your business you need to sign up to Google My Business. If you Google your business you might already come up, but what you can do is ‘Claim this business’. Once you have done this you will be taken through some steps on Google and you can enter your businesses details etc. Once you have completed this you will be asked to verify that you’re the business owner. This will be via a phone call, or a postcard (this may take 3-4 days to come to the address).
Once your business has been verified on Google you’ll be able to start editing some of the information, such as ‘description’ ‘opening times’ & phone number. Once you have done this you’ll start to see a Knowledge Panel for your business.

You have your Google My Business account verified and you want to include more data about your business. This is where you will need to use Schema Data. Schema data is effectively micro data that can be implemented onto your website. Micro data are small snippets of information that are tagged in your HTML, we’ve listed a code snippet below so you can see.
You can utilise Schema data within your website such as date, time & location. Google will potentially find out you have a new event happening and then publish your data within the Google Knowledge Panel. Allowing people searching for your business to see this before they even come onto your website.
